1. Introduction

LifeForge ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use the LifeForge mobile application ("the App"). The App helps users build positive habits through gamification, tracking activities as RPG-style stats and quests.

2. Age Requirement

LifeForge is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the App. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

3. Data Collection & Storage

Local Data

All core game data (stats, quests, streaks, achievements, settings, activity logs) is stored locally on your device by default. Free users' data remains entirely on-device.

Cloud Data

When you use the App, an anonymous account is automatically created via Supabase (our cloud provider). This stores:

Premium subscribers additionally receive cloud backup, which stores your full game save to prevent data loss across devices.

Social & Guild Data

Guild chat messages are subject to a profanity filter. Messages containing inappropriate language are rejected and not stored.

Push Notification Data

If you enable push notifications, your device's push token (Expo Push Token) is stored on our servers to deliver notifications. Push tokens are associated with your anonymous user ID and are deleted when you disable notifications or delete your account. Notification content may be personalised using AI (see Section 5).

Language Preference

Your chosen language preference is stored locally on your device and in your game save. It is not transmitted separately to our servers.

AI Activity Logger

LifeForge uses a Natural Language Processing feature powered by the Claude API to translate your typed activities into game stats and XP. Activity text snippets are sent to the API without personal identifiers, profile information, or local device data attached. The AI does not store your inputs or learn from them between sessions.

AI-Personalised Notifications

If you enable push notifications, the App may use AI to generate personalised motivational messages based on your anonymised game context (e.g., current streak, stat levels, recent achievements). No personal information (name, email, location) is included in the AI prompt. Generated messages are sent once and not stored.

6. Health & Fitness Integration

LifeForge can connect to Apple Health (iOS) and Google Health Connect (Android) to turn your real-world activity into in-game XP. Because health data is some of the most sensitive data on your phone, we've designed this feature around a simple rule: your health data never leaves your device.

What data we read

When you choose to connect health sync, LifeForge requests read-only access to the following data types:

We do not write anything back to Apple Health or Health Connect. LifeForge only reads.

Where your data is processed

All health data is processed entirely on your device. Raw health records — every step count, heart rate reading, workout session, and sleep entry — stay inside your phone's secure health store. Our app reads them, converts them into XP using a fixed formula, and then discards the raw values. They are never written to our servers, never sent to Supabase (our backend provider), and never shared with any third party.

What leaves your device

The only information that syncs to your LifeForge account is aggregated XP totals — integer numbers like "+30 VIT" or "+15 WIL". These numbers cannot be reverse-engineered into specific health records; a total of "+30 VIT" could come from any combination of steps, workouts, or sleep. XP totals are transmitted to your profile over HTTPS (TLS-encrypted) and stored alongside your other game progress.

How to revoke access

You can disconnect health sync at any time:

Disconnecting does not delete the XP you've already earned — it simply stops future reads.

What we will never do with health data

This is also a requirement of Apple's HealthKit terms, which we fully comply with.

Third parties

None. No third-party SDK, analytics tool, or cloud service receives your health data. Processing happens locally on your device using Apple's HealthKit framework and Google's Health Connect SDK.

Legal basis for processing

We process health data on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give when you enable Health Sync and grant individual data-type permissions through your operating system. You can withdraw consent at any time using the steps above.

Children

LifeForge's health integration is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly read health data from minors.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Data is shared only with the essential service providers listed above, solely for core App functionality.

Social features allow other users to see your display name, avatar, class, level, achievement badges, and weekly XP. This information is visible only to users you follow or who follow you, and to fellow guild members.

You can delete all local and cloud data at any time through Settings > "Reset Character" in the App. If you no longer have the App installed, you can request permanent account and data deletion by emailing support@lifeforge.app with the subject line "Data Deletion Request." Requests are processed within 30 days.

By downloading, installing, or using LifeForge ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

LifeForge is a habit-tracking mobile application that gamifies personal development through RPG mechanics including stats, quests, streaks, levels, classes, achievements, social features (friends, followers, VS challenges, accountability partners), and guilds (guild quests, guild wars, guild chat, alliances). The App is available as a free version with optional premium subscription and in-app purchases.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to premium features until the subscription expires. No refunds are provided for the unused portion of any subscription period.

3. In-App Purchases

LifeForge offers coin bundles as one-time in-app purchases. Coins are virtual currency used within the App for cosmetic items (avatars, paths), gameplay features (streak freezes, quest swaps), and guild features (donations, boosters). Coins have no real-world monetary value and are non-transferable. All in-app purchases are final and non-refundable, except as required by applicable law or the respective app store's refund policy.

Guild chat messages and display names are considered user-generated content. You are solely responsible for the content you post. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms.

What the Integration Does

If you connect LifeForge to Apple Health (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android), LifeForge reads your health and fitness data — including steps, workouts, sleep, and heart rate (used to detect workout intensity) — to automatically award XP within the App. Connecting your health data is entirely optional. You can disconnect at any time in Settings.

Read-Only Access

LifeForge only reads health data. It does not write, modify, or delete any of your health records, and it does not share your raw health data with third parties.

Accuracy & Limitations

Health data is provided by your operating system (Apple Health or Google Health Connect) based on readings from your device or connected wearables. LifeForge does not independently verify the accuracy of this data. XP awarded from health data is approximate and intended for gamification purposes only.

Not a Medical App

LifeForge is not a medical device, fitness coach, or clinical tool, and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Health-integration features are designed for motivation and gamification only. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making decisions about diet, exercise, sleep, or any medical condition.

Anti-Abuse

To keep the game fair for all players, LifeForge may adjust or remove XP awarded from health data if it detects patterns suggesting manipulation of that data (for example, bulk-inserted fake step counts or implausibly large activity spikes).

Your Responsibility

You are responsible for granting and managing health permissions in your device settings. You can revoke LifeForge's access to your health data at any time through the Apple Health app (iOS) or Health Connect settings (Android). Revoking access will stop further automatic XP, but XP already awarded will remain on your account.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, design, graphics, icons, avatars, animations, code, and game mechanics in LifeForge are the intellectual property of LifeForge and its creator. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without written permission.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. AI-generated content (activity logging results, notifications) may contain inaccuracies.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LifeForge and its creator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of virtual currency or progress, or inability to access the service.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time for violation of these Terms, without prior notice. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Data deletion follows the process described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time. Changes take effect upon posting. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
